Hi,

I have just started out as self employed, Member in practice.  I have been wanting to do this since completing AAT in 2003, but it's taken time to build up the knowledge and confidence to go it alone.

biggrin I am really excited about it, got a couple of clients which are close family but trying to grow client base.

Hi Michelle

As Shamus says - thee and me are on a very similar path, thou' you look to be ahead of me. How have you found the regulations and 'stuff'? It is causing me palpatations! I've only ever kept my head down and down the work in front of me, all this red tape is horrible!

Hi Fran,

I am Member in practice with AAT, are you the same?, it's just that they have a really get help and support system, so I have all the insurance cover organised, Letter of engagement etc, registering with HMRC is the thing I have found takes time.

Just trying to get networking and marketing which is an area I am not used to..

Good luck and keep in touch on how it's going.

Hi Michelle

I'm still employed by an Accountant as bookkeeper - temp assignment [1 year] that will be finishing soon, hence the plan to 'do' self employed!

I'll also be moving to a new area [Witney, Oxfordshire] and buying a new house, you know nothing stressful biggrin

I'm sorted out rejoining AAT [had a brain fart whilst marriage was going down the pan and cancelled everything!] and getting MIP and PII and MLR etc, etc etc . . . . worked out it'll cost me £545 before I earn a penny, Oh hum doh
