Hi from Sue T -

I think I could be using this forum a lot.  Used to be a self employed book-keeper then worked as a PA and now back picking up the SE BK againconfuse

I have 4 monthly clients and 3 weekly clients so pretty busy, as well as helping rehome rescue dogs.smile

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum, out of interest what do you do for your clients?. I have managed to sustain 1 monthly customer, my other 5 customers have been one offs. I was interested to know what regular customers would require then I will know what to market towards. I have been focusing alot lately on marketing, I have changed the lay out of my website, and I am looking at setting up google adwords again campaigning against different service requirements, and really trying to find out what clients want help with.

So far I have really only experience people who are self employed and have came to me with a bag of receipts to sort. My 1 monthly customer requires monthly bookkeeping and quarterly vat return.

Hi all thanks for the great welcome.

RobH is that a lurcher/greyhound in your avatar - because thats the breed of dog I rescue!

Lor - I am mainly doing SAGE Bookkeeping ( I passed my CIT Sage exam in 1998) for 5 of my clients. 1 Client has MYOB, 1 Client has Money Manager. I also do payroll on 12Pay payroll, SAGE and Iris. CIS on SAGE. I do VAT returns. I have done Quickbooks in the past too.

All my clients are small businesses within 10 miles of my home (semi-rural)and I have got all my clients by word of mouth and simple advertising in local village post offices and village websites and local village magazines. Registering with your local Chamber of Commerce can be good too.

Hi Sue,

the rest of us still think that Robs been sold a rabbit.

He's going to love you actually agreeing with him that it's a dog!

Shaun.

All that studying has affected your eyes Shaun, but don't worry I have spare carrots to hand since my pet won't eat them!!

Hi Sue, yes Misty is a lurcher cross. She is a rescue too from NCDL (Dogs Trust...not Bunny Trust!), there is definitely greyhound and pointer in her and I think a bit of border collie mixed in for good measure. She 's a great dog, I bring her to work with me but she has an ever so slightly unerring method of greeting clients, it's just that her nose is at an unfortunate height and being a dog she likes to get to know people!
