Is collecting your client paperwork a monthly nightmare?

Using machine learning, artificial intelligence, visual recognition, OCR & lots of other tech, weve made it simple for businesses to sort the documentation via category or by month, helping bookkeepers process the documentation.

 

Were looking for some design partners to help us make our product even better.

I'll ignore for a moment that you are advertising a product without first seeking permission as this is a topic that I think neeeds to be covered.

There seems to be a few of these type of products on the market but the shortfall is that you either expect clients to scan documents (which they may do for a while but then decide that they have better things to do) or bookkeepers to scan documents that they could have entered into the system faster than scanning them... And even if it wasnt faster who wants to spend years studying in order to spend your time working a photocopier.

The post does raise an interesting point in that the big boys such as PWC are increasing going down the automation route and eradicating the role of skilled bookkeepers. In PQ this month there were several articles that all hinted at automation and AI.

I read that as the big boys now see the ability to handle large volumes of the smallest clients very cheaply by putting scanning in the hands of the business owner and automating most of the proocess... Which is a worrying move for our industry and certainly emphasises the threat of alternate products encroaching on our bread and butter.

So, the real emphasis of this thread should be that the robot's are coming and what are we going to do about it as software such as this is part of the movement threatening the livelihoods of every person reading this.

Hi Dokka, I love visiting my clients to pick up paperwork, really I do. It gives me the opportunity to build up a good relationship with them, helps me get to know their unique way of operating, their quirky and sometimes chaotic business lives. So your product would not benefit the long hours i spend sorting boxes, bags and tatty envelopes of crinkled paper. Sorry. There is a sketch from a very loved series in which the housekeeper is presented with a teasmaid to relieve her of this seemingly boring task.... the result was painful. Julie

 Totally agree Julie,

I always moan at the way clients present their Invoices and receipts but secretly I do enjoy going through them all and logging them and as you say keeping in regular contact helps to build a good working relationship!

so quite apart from not asking permission to advertise/drop spam, links etc, the ad itself isn't very well thought out nor placed. Personally I think the forum should delete the link embedded including that on the profile, until permission has been sought and gained. But hey. 

I will just pick up on one point, which is above. did I read the site incorrectly when it said its free for bookkeepers? if so then this is no giveaway, unless of course you plan to intro fees after 12 months anyway once you think you have us all on board.

i can see you are online so we will I'm sure have to endure more of this.

Totally agree with you about visiting clients. That's how relationships are made which is what produces good clients and clients who stay with you because they trust you.

Do we have to take the freebies.... Sounds a real white elephant that the freebie is that you get moved from skilled work to being a slave to the scanner.

Oh I so wanted a dumbed down job - standing at a scanner all day!

Although if you think about it - if it produces as much sh*te as that other well known offering with the words Bank and Receipt in their name (Im not giving them any advertising on here) then we would be have more billable hours!!!!!! I could get an apprentice and pay them 5p a day! (Before anyone gets upset, any Apprentices working for me get above the living wage rate because anything less is abhorrent!)

What... we have to pay apprentices!!!! Next thing you'll be telling me that we're not allowed to beat them anymore. Tut. the fun has gone right out of this business.

Have any of the people here used software such as Receiptbank and Autoentry? I am assuming the OP has created something similar.

I have used Receiptbank and, whilst it has some quirks it does save a lot of time on several clients. It is not 100% amazing with the scanning side of things but where a client has a lot of electronic invoices it can be really useful as the software picks up information much better.

I use if for my own accounts and it really is good.

Yes. I tend to only trash things I don't like when I've tried them personally (or in the case of my recent comment about AAT courses at local colleges, when I've had close experience of the trauma others have had by being on the other end sorting out the mess!)

I was hoping the OP would've at least commented on my challenged points, but on the basis they couldn't be bothered then I've not bothered with their software.
