HMRC - PAYE Request Authorisation

Hi

I am trying to obtain authorisation for a new payroll client online and I am inputting their details directly from their welcome letter from HMRC, so they should be correct. But it keeps being rejected as failed stating

"ERROR: HM Revenue & Customs is unable to identify your client from the information you have provided. Please check the details you have entered and amend if necessary"

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark

You've probably already tried it several times but I have had similar and found I had a problem with the postcode format.

I've also had problems with the SA authorisation. Tried to authorise myself (on behalf of a client) and it didn't recognise my long awaited agent number (I see trouble ahead)

Personally I think that the HMRC interactive website is so unpredicatble and rubbish, I have no confidence in it

Bill

Hi Mark

Not sure if this is the problem but sometimes if you take the "/" out of the Employer PAYE Reference it helps.

Kind regards

Zöe

Just a bit of info on HMRC PAYE online. There was a notice that there had been a problem with submissions on 22 April and if you made a submission on that day then check to ensure that it had gone through.

I abolutely dread having to use the HMRC website - but still prefer it to having to speak to some of the staff they employ there!
