hi, im kate, ive just started a book keeping course with ideal schools, has anyone done thier full book keeping course , if so whats it like and are they any good ?
Course Modules Include:
1. Level I Certificate in Basic Book-keeping
2. Level II Certificate in Manual Book-keeping
3. Level III Diploma in Manual Book-keeping
4. Level II & III Sage Computerised Book-keeping *
5. Level III Diploma in Payroll Management *

Hi Kate, I am currently studying from home with the Learning and Open Skills College. I have got my level 1 certificate in basic bookkeeping, waiting until June to take my level 2 manual exam and I have just started doing my level 1 and 2 in computerised bookkeeping. I must admit that I am finding the computerised bookkeeping much easier than the manual and it is so much faster to do the books computerised than manually.

Sounds like there is a lot for you to learn - what are you wanting to do when you get your qualifications?

Hello how did you find level 1 ?was it hard as i have done no book-keeping at all i`m waiting for my pack to come.

Also did it take long to complete?
starting to get nervous about what i have signed up for lots of hard work i think!!
but i have chosen to do the complete course as want to open my own book-keeping office (fingers crossed) so thought it would be good to no as much as i can, im looking to complete as quick as i can as just had baby 12weeks ago so home all day .

Hi Kate

I bought the level 3 Diploma in bookkeeping from Ideal Schools in September/October 2007. I did not realise that you needed the other levels and the tutor at Ideal School was very helpful and said that there was enough time to take the other levels and they could sell me just the pack for the other levels if I wanted. As I had many years bookkeeping experience I decided just to buy the pass papers from ICB for these, between October 2007 and October 2008 I have taken and passed all but the Level III Diploma in Manual bookkeeping (which I have the big envelope of about 8 or 9 different lessons that Ideal Schools sent me in September/October 2007. That I keep putting off from starting as opened a new business recently, but I know I must get on with it.

The level 1 is fairly easy home based exam. If you have no experience at all and are worried this makes it easier because this exam can be booked at any time, if you phone ICB by Thursday morning they will send the exam out that Friday. So this can be booked once you have gone through all the coursework and it is advisable to purchase 1 or 2 pass papers from ICB for £5 because then you can practise first before buying the original.

Level 2 manual and level 3 manual are based where you need to go to a centre that they tell you once people have booked and you are a little more restricted time wise for this because they only have exams in February, June and October each year.
