Anyone heard of The Local Bookkeeper franchise?

Hi, I'm looking to start my own book-keeping business and I've come across a franchise called 'The Local Bookkeeper' (www.its-your-revolution.co.uk). I've read their website and it looks interesting, but it doesn't mention the inital cost?

Has anyone else heard of this particular franchise and/or experiences of franchising in general for book-keeping/accounting?

Hi Lynn

I've not heard of the franchise you mention, but I've come across similar ones in the past and they normally go for anything over £10,000. Accountancy franchises are normally in the region of £20,000 to £30,000 - not cheap I'm afraid.

Hi Lynn,

There is an initial one-off fee, £13,995 + VAT for a five year franchise, and you must pay a 10% management fee on all new gross sales.

We're franchising our book-keeping business, and are pilot testing the scheme. So do look around if you are considering a book-keeping franchise, because there are other offers out there.

Hi,

I am looking into buying a bookkeeping franchise can you tell me some more about yours and has anyone heard of Bookcheck?

Is anyone on this forum earning the around £52,000pa cited on the Bookcert website, is it realistic?

Does anyone employ other bookkeepers?

I've not looked at the BookCert website, but I think £52,000 or above or below is possible. Anything is possible. Things to be aware of are WHERE you are operating. For example, in London, (Capital City) fees are likely to be higher than in the North of England. Also, be aware that "income" might not just come from straight 'book keeping' fees... you could be an author, a tutor, a consultant, you might also get commission via being a software (sage, quickbooks) reseller.

We employ other people. There are 20 people on the payroll at the moment. I hope that helps.
