Does anyone know which course I need to do for registering with AML?
I've completed my first year of my Accounting degree so I'm a qualified Bookkeeper but apparently the training I received in this isn't what AML want. They want me to do a separate course.
Can this just be the links that are on the AML Government Website? Can this be a free online course for a couple of hours? Or does it need to be a full 2 day course?
They really haven't given me any clue for what is required, just that I need to prove I've undergone some training.
I'm registered with ACCA so no longer through HMRC so you must forgive my being out of touch if they have changed the regulations. I don't think that its part of the fit and proper test so where does it require that you do a seperate course from your degree? I mean, it doesn't hurt but I don't know where the requirement is coming from thats preventing you moving forwards. Everything around the application as far as I remember is around honesty and integrity of applicants. Its afterwards if they check on you that you need to prove your procedures are in place.
Interested to read how this has changed since I was last registered with them.

It's AML that messaged me after I applied and paid £340 for the application. They said they'd done all the checks but they needed me to do AML training but didn't specify what training.
I haven't completed my degree yet, I've done my first year which has made me a qualified Bookkeeper. I have been honest and provided everything they asked for in the application.

I don't there's any specific training HMRC expect you to undertake, but they will expect you to undergo some training so as you know and understand how AML works, and have steps and procedures in place to help you assess each client and ensure you know what to do should you suspect money laundering. That can be as simple as reading up on what's required or enrolling on a course that'll teach you what to do.

I've applied for AML Supervision through the Government website which was £340 but then I get £120 back because my income is predicted to be less than £5000 for the coming year, costing me £220 in the end.

I was quoted £383 by IAB including admin fees.
What, just for AML cover? Sounds a lot
