Commercial Vehicle or not

Hi,  We have an employee with a Land Rover Defender as a company vehicle and I am trying to find out whether this is taxed on P11d as a commercial vehicle or not.  i have found a list on HMRC website with Land Rovers but not a defender.  Does anyone have any ideas where else I can look?

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

 Hi Muriel

If you check the vehicles V5C registration document and look at the European classification, if it is listed as N1 or N2 then the vehicle is classed as a commercial, if it says M1 or M2 then then it is dual purpose and treated as a car.

Hi, Thanks for that but it's a Hire Vehicle and we don't have the V5C. I think we will err on the side of caution and call it a car.
