I would be grateful for any advice that can be offered.
I am keen to start my own accountancy company. I have completed AAT and ACCA and currently work as an Finance Director in industry.
My plan is to run an outsourced finance department, covering in management accounting, vat returns, payroll, book keeping and FD advisory. Unfortunately I cannot deal with tax issues or finalise accounts without a practising certificate which will be difficult to obtain as I've always worked in industry.
Can anyone please provide any pointers, Do you feel there is a need for this service, prices to charge, advertising, systems to use etc.
So are you prepared to give up your ACCA membership when you dont get a PC? Or are you saying you will stay within TB (that excludes prepayments, accruals and the like at year end)
Why now, in this time of impending major contraction in the industry?
Have a search on here - the question has been aasked and answered a gazillion times.
Ive been able to offer the remote FD type role you mention in the past but generally only by first working very closely at clients premises, doing 1 day + per week with them for a good while, because you need to do this to get to know every aspect of their business to enable you to truely make an impact. Finding clients who want you to do that.....and note do the tax side.....is the hard part, but not saying its impossible.
Main question I would say is - are you looking to add final accounts and some tax services to your offering at some point - it may well serve you better to get your practice certificate signed off. Some of the work in industry can be used towards sign off, but for the rest I would suggest it depends on what contacts you have/if youthey will help and how much time you can throw at it whilst doing your day job.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
