my names Anthony, i'm up in Halifax. I'm trying to fill in my form to become a licensed member but its asking for someone for the continuity of practice cover. I was wondering if anyone could help please? thank you
welcome to the forum. You need to say licensed member of which professional body.
Some bodies do not recognise the existance of others. General rule is your level and up. So, for example, for ACCA it would be another ACCA practice or a chartered Practice. For AAT is would be an MAAT MIP, ACCA, Chartered, etc.
Check the small print of what your practicing certificate requires
HTH,
Shaun.

Hi Anthony
You might want to add a bit more detail.
Some background - your experiences (in and out of bookkeeping/Accountancy). What exams have you passed/where up to/what exams planning on taking etc etc- we do normally ask that anyway. If you are aiming your services at a niche and what that niche is. What kind of services are you planning on offering. Licence for what? Bookkeeping? Accountancy? Plus crucially - who is the licence with?
Several reasons for asking
- Folk will need to know what they are signing up for.
- Its useful to know your background because eg someone might not be able to take on a complete newbie with little knowledge given the COP would take up too much time to sort out if its ever called upon, whereas they might be prepared to by a COP for someone with considerable knowledge
- As an IAB bod you cannot provide cover for an ACCA bod/ AAT cannot provide for ICAEW. Bookkeeper cannot provide for an Accountant. you get my drift.
- will it be reciprocal?
etc

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
