QuickBooks Pro 2015 Desktop

Hi All,

I'm still using QuickBooks Pro 2015 Desktop programme for my clients. I have one client who the Accountant files their VAT for me via his bridging software. Am i ok to be using my old QBs programme for another year before I believe it's compulsory to file the VAT digitally?

I have tried changing to Quickfile but much prefer QBs Desktop.

Many thanks.

You do not need to update your QB desktop (ever) if it is still working!!! Do NOT change it if you dont want to.

Just use bridging software of your own and file that way. Do you use VT+? Do the excel add in. If not then try John Hemmings VAT Direct (he is on here). Free for first year and cheap as chips following and he is a great help!

If your client is already mandated then no it is NOT ok to not file properly - this coule be picked up via a compliance check.

Question is - is your client mandated?

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi Zoe, just to add to what Joanne said. Using bridging software is filing digitally. If accountant is already doing that it's fine to continue for however long HMRC have that option available, and there are no plans to remove it.

The digital bit is already in place, it's just that there is a soft landing until April this year.

Thank you for your help. Quickfile is an almost free cloud software but I do prefer my old QuickBooks Pro 15 desktop and don't want to change unless I have to. Zoe
