Employment Contract

Morning all

A new client has told me he took on an apprentice a few months back, from what I have gathered he has not given him a contract of employment, not sure if this is an approved scheme as I am still waiting for him to get back to me with further information.

Is this a legal requirement for an apprentice/any employee?

Cheers

Hi Doug
For employees generally - www.gov.uk/employment-contracts-and-conditions

For Apprentices - more care is needed re non fixed term contracts and the like. I would suggest you recommend the client try ACAS if the Apprenticeship providers cannot help (usually hopeless in my experience) and/or a HR specialist. I can recommend Peninsula.

Cheers for the heads up.... Now, do I clear up any inadvertant misunderstand and tidy away your post now calling Doug a Moron... biggrin

The grown up accountant in me says yes... The four year old miscreant still living in my head says yes... but no need hurry, lol. (bet you spoil it now by deleting it yourself!... Well, made me laugh for a while biggrin)

No I can't, not to Doug. I'll get rid of it as soon as you've seen how funny it looks.

Laters,

Shaun.
