Aca qualified - starting a practice

Hi everyone,

ive done my best to navigate the notorious ICAEW website and their dull fact sheets and havent really got too far.

i have been qualified for 5 years, have worked in accountancy for 10. I work in practice in audit and accounts currently, however I a looking at setting up on my own.

I am aware I require a practicing certificate with the institute and PII. In terms of money laundering is this covered with icaew?

i also wish to do bookkeeping services, payroll and tax returns. I have a lot of experience in limited accounts and corp tax but not sure if I can practice This?

any help would be great, and any tips at finding those First clients!

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi Leanne

You need to ask them to ensure it is covered by your practice certificate. They will advise when they get your application what it is that you can cover in your practice - you need to provide evidence of competence in all the areas. Phone them for assistance before you fill in their form.

Plenty of stuff on here about setting up a practice. Not sure from how much time you have spent delving on here, but worth a good look around. We get asked this ALL the time.
