Continuity of Practice help!

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help me?

I'm an ACCA qualified employed practice accountant, wanting to apply for a practising certificate so I can start out on my own. The ACCA has approved my training record (after a lot of toing and froing!) but I'm hitting a snag in that I need a "suitably qualified" continuity of practice nominee. I can't ask anyone I work for as they don't know my plans and other than contacting other local firms I'm at a bit of a loss! Is there anyone here who can help? Unfortunately the ACCA doesn't deem the AAT as good enough, has to be someone from the bigger associations/institutes. I'd be happy to return the favour or help out any way I can. Oh and I'm based in South Manchester so local would be better but further away could also work.

Thanks :)

Is there anyone here who can help? Unfortunately the ACCA doesn't deem the AAT as good enough well quite, ACCA is a higher qual, you need ACCA MIP, FCCA MIP or an ACA (no idea about CIMA, but thoughts are not), has to be someone from the bigger associations/institutes. I'd be happy to return the favour or help out any way I can. Oh and I'm based in South Manchester so local would be better but further away could also work.

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Stockport. Regarding the non compete, according to my contract I'm not allowed to work for anyone within 3 miles of my office, I live 3 1/2 miles away so I'm good!

I'm just a few miles out from Stockport as well.

Can't help you with the COPP though.

As long as you stay off my patch!  laughing.gif

But seriously - good to have another ACCA bod on here.   Good luck with the set up.

Have you met anyone on any networking events who you can tap up for this?   They are probably the best to try.

A couple (or hopefully a few) os us are going to Accountex North in September, so if you fancy meeting up let me know.

Thanks for the idea Joanne, I've just managed to get in touch with someone I see every so often on the ACCA Saturday courses and (fingers crossed) she's happy to help! She's based near Bolton so she's local but not too local and I feel better that we've met and get on, rather than having to nominate a stranger.

Right PI cover next...
