Anyone starting ACCA-X course July 2017

Hello all,

This new thread for all those who are starting the free ACCA-X course on 3 July, both for support and mutual encouragement and to provide a main thread for queries and advice as the course progresses.

Hope I've set this up correctly but please let me know if I haven't!

Good luck to all embarking on their studies,

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

the settup is fine but don't know how many you will find doing exactly the same course at exactly the same time. That said. Whether doing the course or not you will get plenty of support and encouragement from those here when you need it whether they are doing the course or not.

Any concept you has problems with simply post here and we'll try to help you if the course materials are lacking in any area (although, considering whose behind this course I doubt if they will be).

all the best,

Shaun.

Hi again Sharon
Agree and reiterate what Shaun says, although of course we know one other who is starting the course from the other recent thread, being Carrie.

Good luck to both of you.

Questions might be better on separate threads (with relevant headings) so as to not preclude answers from some of those in the know who don't read every thread (just a thought!), but for general ones between the two or you, plus any others then this thread is a good way to go. Shaun and I are nosey so will probably read them anyway.evileye

Thank you both for your replies and offers of help.

Ok Joanne, that's a good point about posting questions on separate threads , will do. Glad of your joint nosiness though, just in case I forget

I've just been listening to the ACCA welcome webinar, it certainly sounds an interesting and well structured course. Looking forward to it.

Best wishes

Sharon

Hi again Sharon

Thanks so much for setting up the new thread.
I've just done the first webinar, and I'm impressed how the course is all laid out on screen.

Carrie

No problem Carrie.

I see your post was timed at 03.58 am - I do hope you weren't really up doing the webinar at that time of the morning - that would be true dedication if you were!

I also see, from the other thread, that you have registered for the intermediate course too. Are you planning to run on with the intermediate course directly after this intro one, or run them both together? ( I know you've got a lot more background finance knowledge than I) I've thought about it but then wondered whether to do the 10 week intro course and then head over to the AAT skills test and get stuck in to my AAT studies, at whatever level. Still pondering though, so watch this space!

As you say, the course is very clear and well laid out - very impressed with it all.

Best wishes

Sharon

3.58am - definately fits the profile of any dedicated Accountant.

No sadly I'm not that dedicated.

We enjoyed a rare childless evening out whilst daughter was away on school trip. Watched The Mummy and had a meal out after.
The 3:58 am was a case of waking up with indigestion! And then being wide awake.

Regarding the intermediate course, I followed the advice the tutor gave at the first webinar. She advised enrolling sooner rather than later as they only run the course a few times a year.
As it's free I've lost nothing if I decide not to complete it and go straight to the AAT level 3, if the skills test works out okay. In any case I'll have 1 years access and the information may come in useful.

Meanwhile I've been looking around at local colleges online and I'm surprised at the high cost of the courses both AAT and bookkeeping compared to learning online.

 Hi Carrie

Sorry to stray from the thread but what was The Mummy like?

It was good thanks, we enjoyed it.

A few scary bits that made us jump, hubby jumped more than me! It was good as it held my interest all through the film.

Cheers Carrie I might go and see it myself if I can find the time but will more than likely end up waiting for the DVD

Hello, abit off topic as I just started the ACCA-X intermediate course FA2 about a week ago. I was wondering if anyone else doing the course knew what is the qualification they offer if you pass the exam(s)? Is it just part of the way to the intermediate course and there are other modules necessary to complete it? And what is the progression on from this? It isn't quite clear on the website but then I am still using my tablet till I can afford a laptop. Be interested to hear from others doing the course and what their plans are after studying the course and which direction they hope to go in. Thanks
