Hello there.

Hi,

Im Kirill. Born in Russia and living in London for almost 10 years now. I started AAT Computerised Accounting level 2 back in April 2014. Before I were a bookmaker for Ladbrokes plc for 4 years. Now I`m pursuing a career as an accountant. I`m working with Sage Instant.

Best wishes

Kirill

Welcome to the forum Kirill. Did you complete AAT and are a qualified member in practice?

I think you might need a little more than sage instant, is it still the case that you can only have one copy on your computer, so can't do multiple companies?

I tried horse racing once.   I backed a horse at ten to one and it went past the finishing line at five past two. biggrin

Hello there,

How are you?

I`m sure that I will not process any opening balance for horse racing bets within any software.

But, it is interesting fact what you said about Sage. I will indulge of broadening my use of different accounting software.

I am a member of AAT but not qualified yet.

Best wishes

Kirill

Hi Kirill
Welcome to the forum.

Where are you up to with your AAT studies?

We have a few students on here, so ask away if you get stuck with anything in your studies.

Are you planning to work as self employed or are you working in an accounting environment? You mentioned sage instant so I wondered if you were working for a small/medium company? Its a good bit of kit to cut your teeth on, but no good for practice as John says.

Hi again
My name is Joanne, it's on the bottom of my signature bar, although if you are using. Mobile you won't be able to see that.

So what is your last module? Good luck for the 7th, not far off but still enough time to get loads of revision in.

Thank goodness for Mothers! They are ace aren't they. Lol.

Have you any plans to further your studies after you get the AAT? Eg ACCA?

Hello everybody,
Just a quick update on my current assets. Well, so far not too bad. I mean, I have to take into accounts for £45.60 is for printing paper so is a day-by-day expense. This would mean it would have a nominal code around the 7000 range of nominal code. He code I have used (0030) is for non-current assets e.g. delivery vehicles or buildings.
Second of all, have received payments from suppliers there is no need to split for VAT. So for example for << client name removed by moderator >>  they are paying us £1,200. The VAT element of the transaction, here £200 would have been accounted for the when the invoice was originally raised.
Last thing, On the bank statement (at the bottom) you will see bank charges of £15 and I could not see this posted. Always look out for any items that need to be posted from the bank statement, for example interest. You have correctly accounted for the interest received of £24.20 so well done here. I have to re-do my assessment and play around Accounts 50. Ta ra

Good morning, forumees
Yes,it is an update. It was related to the assessment for level 2 AAT. AT the moment, I have downloaded 30 day free trial of Sage 50 and used that to do the assessment. I have send it to the assessor. I find the new software a lot better than Instant Accounts 2013 which is what I'm doing on my course for 3 years. I managed to do all the tasks quicker and faster. I like the new Sage 50 a lot. Peace to everybody. Taa

Hi all,
Well, today at 2pm I had an assessment exam in Liverpool Street, London. There were four other people waiting for CPAG CBP exam. Well, I got there like 20 minutes early and there was a lot of corridors to go through before the waiting area. At the waiting area, I was asking question about general credit/debit scenarios with the four people. After 10 minutes of chatting we then were given a room to go in. Then, we had option to choose where to sit. During the whole process, I felt like it was in an office. Also looked like an office. I was sitting by the 2 windows to get extra light. Plus its was sunny not hot. Around 21c temperature. I confirmed my name with a passport then given an assessment. I created a folder on the desktop to back-up after every task, out of 12. At 2pm, I started to get into the swings of it. I was very confident and pleased with the whole situation I was in. I had 2 hours to do everything. I was doing and still doing for 3 years AQ 2013 CPAG. Few times two members of staff were asking me few questions regarding the whole assessment if I did this or did that. I was very office environment during those 2 hours. I was calm and enjoying been an accountant. I entered all the relevant tasks into Sage 50c 2013 and made screen proofs as .pdf`s. I was not in the rush or panicky mood at all. Just relaxed and in my own time. I felt like I was at work, really. I was the 4th to come out of the room. It was around 4pm when I was outside the BPP University. I`m a distance learner for BPP and a member for AAT. Now I can go on holiday with my mother and enjoy other side of the city.
All the Best
Kirill

So what is next for you?    Finish level 2 and 3 and become a bookkeeper or level 4 to become the Accountant you aspire to be?

Just a word of warning though - if you are planning on completing any more AAT exams, I would suggest you move to AQA 2016 unless you feel you can complete the rest of the whole of level 2 (including the exams) before the end of 2017.

Good evening.
How are you?
As my dream was to be an accountant. Now I have finished my AAT level 2. I`m very happy about it. It took me around 3 years to complete. Now time to do the resume and covering letter. I feel very confident to have a temporary part-time job as an accountant. Just to get my hand profile in the field. It`s been very interesting and productive to do what I will be doing.
Best wishes

well done on passing your AAT level 2 Kirill... but three years is an awfully long time to complete that.

Why did it take so long? I would expect on average someone starting today with no experience to have passed their level IV within two years. If you have a very busy work life that encroaches on your studies maybe extend that to three... But three years for level II alone seems a little excessive and you may wish to consider changes to your learning style / training provider. Perhaps set yourself realistic achievable goal and try to stick to them.

I would not tell a prospective employer that level II took you any more than three months to complete or you won't be getting any call backs.

Also, applying for jobs at level II seems a little premature. Should you not wait at least until the end of level III? Level II has only taught you entry level bookkeeping. You haven't done any real acccountancy yet.

Good luck in your studies,

Shaun.

Im confused by this poster. It isnt very clear as to whether or not he has the FULL level 2 AAT subjects or just the one as the backstory appears to change.

The FULL LEVEL 2, under AQA2013 cover 5 different exams:-
Basic costings
Processing bookkeeping transactions
Control accounts, journals and the banking system
Working effectively in Accounting & finance
Computerised accounting (CPAG)

Can you clarify Kirill if you have the above 5 exams or do you JUST have the ONE exam success - Computerised accounting (CPAG)

Either way, I also think you need to wait until you have passed the full quota of exams at Level 3 before you start applying, although in certain areas of the country you can find a job with the full level 2, but you may need a whole load of patience and waste a whole heap of time, as you could well end up doing a lot of job applications. Even with Level 3 Im afraid you will not be an Accountant. Level 4 gets you the title of Accounting Technician.

Hey all.
How are you all? I have passed all the requirements for level 2 CPAG and I`m now AAT QCF Accountant. It seems that my search for a job is coming with a light in the tunnel. I have done my covering letter and CV with a help from my mother Nella. Im very glad as to how everything is working out. As I said to myself on the New Year 2016 : " That if everything, and should go by plan. Then by start of a 2018 is going to be the best year for me in terms of happy new career". So far so good at the moment. I will keep you guys and girls up-to-date. Cheers
Best wishes

Hi Joanne,

QCF = Qualifications and Credit Framework.... It ceased to exist in 2015.

Don't you need to have passed all the exams at level IV to be considered an AAT Accountant?

Problem is - even ignoring the fact that an AAT QCF Accountant doesnt actually exist, that unfortunately Kirill is not allowed to refer to being an AAT Accountant without having a practising certificate in place which as we all know is not available to anyone who has just passed one exam out of five at level 2. He is in danger of being struck off the AAT books and/or incurring a sizeable fine before he has even got through to being a bookkeeper with their quals. I would recommend you remove all reference to being an AAT accountant until you have that practising certificate in place, but good luck in your search for a job in the arena as that will lead to real experience which hopefully will also lead to more of the required exams being taken and passed.

Clearly this poster is not reading ANY responses! Is happy to flout the AAT rules as well by stating as fact that he is an AAT Accountant when that is clearly not the case.

Or its a joke post.

The poster is clearly in breach of AAT regulations in refering to both AAT affiliation and being an accountant at AAT level II!... personally I got a CSE in biology so next week I'm considering selling my services as a Brain surgeon. Very cheap rates for the first fifty operations if anyone's interested.
I think that this one has gone as far as it should now and has become something of a distraction to people who are really way too busy for these sort of threads.
Merry Christmas Kirill
