Change details on QB invoice

Dear All

I need to change the customer name on a invoice that has been issues and paid within the last financial year in Quickbooks.  Accounts have been submitted to the accountant.

Its the same amount same amount paid on the same date but company had changed there name slightly and had not told us! and are requesting a new invoice. Will this effect the account data for the VAT closed period or Final accounts? have been over thinking this now and can not make a decision.

Penny

Hi Penny
It doesnt matter that they didnt tell you about a change of name as long as you issued the invoice to the correctly spelt name - they have an audit trail of the change by way of the Companies House change of name certificate. So you dont need to provide a new invoice.

Unless of course it is actually a completely different legal entity - do a quick check on the company name v company number for each. The company number should be the same!

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
