Career Opportunity for AAT student

I own www.By1847.com two restaurants, in Manchester and Birmingham. This summer we'll also open in Liverpool plus another city by early 2016.

We currently have a credit controller level person working three days a week plus a book keeper once a month and use Quickbooks. Due to our growth we're now looking to take someone more full time to oversee the finance area.

Ideally we're looking for a student studying for their AAT locally to Manchester. We'll pay a basic salary plus pay towards course fees.

Please let me know if interested or know someone who would be.

Damien

Hi Alys,

how does that work with AAT?

With ACCA experience only counts if you are working for approved employers (basically mean qualified Chartered or Chartered Certified). Can AAT people work for any employer unsupervised by a qualified accountant and it counts as experience towards their MIP status?

No biggy, just wondering how the AAT experience requirements work?

(sorry Damien, nothing to do with your Job Ad, this is a genuine enquiry as to how AAT works).

kindest regards,

Shaun.

Hi Damian,
I've been to both your restaurants and they are great (especially Manchester)...I'm not applying for the job but I can recommend your food. If others want to taste fine dining vegetarian style outside of Brighton and London, you need to visit!

Hi Shaun,

The guide for full membership is here: https://www.aat.org.uk/membership/apply-for-aat-full-membership . See step 2.

It does not specifically state that the referee is an AAT or chartered qualified accountant.

I'm under the impression that the job being advertised is for employment rather than an MIP.

Regarding MIP applications, you initially apply for "registered" MIP status which does not require a reference.  You have to achieve "licensed" status within two years, this requires a reference which can either be from a supervising accountant or from a client.

Kind regards,

David.
