Accounting software for restaurants

Does anyone have a restaurant client that uses accounting software? I would be interested to know what software people are using and whether they have an interface between EPOS and the accounting software? If not it would be useful to know how frequently and to what level of detail they are posting sales into the software.

Thank you

Yes - use sage professional. No interface between the EPOS and software though. I key work every week and just key daily sales in to Sage every couple of weeks.

I also look after a cafe - I use my sage 50, collect his info every couple of weeks, key sales into excel and do a dump into sage very month.

Thanks Joanne, that's really helpful. If you don't mind could I just ask you whether you post all the food/ingredient purchases all the stock (ie balance sheet) or do you expense the items to Profit and Loss? As the items are in stock for such a short period I think it might be better to post straight to profit and loss?

Thank you

Hey KarenWB, QuickBooks offers many tools and features specific to restaurant business such as you can track sales and expenses incurred, pay your employees anytime, accept mobile payments and synchronize your data easily. Yes, there is an interface between EPOS and QuickBooks. The most important and useful part is that you can explore the trends in your industry with the QuickBooks trend tool.

Hi Karen
I use 5000 purchases code range - tend to split it to say food purchases and booze. Stock take at end of year especially if its licensed as there could well be a lot of value in the alcohol, then this can go in as stock. Epos will integrate with sage - its just the one I worked for didnt want to pay for it (regardless of the fact it would probably have paid for itself in terms of my bill being lower!!)
