Hello..

Hello all, I am new here. About me I have not worked for a while due to sickness but I am feeling like I am ready to move forward in finding a job just for a few hours one day a week to see how I go. Before I became ill I wanted to work for myself as a bookkeeper working from home and maybe this would be better for me still to do this I have passed my AAT but not done any work in accounts for many years.  I hope you may be able to help with some advice.

Many thanks

Sindy

Hi Sindy,

welcome to the forum.

There have been a couple of recent joiners in a similar predicament to yourself (not an exact match as you have rusty skills where they were only thinking of moving into this busiess).

Have a look at these two threads where you may find some answers to your own, different, situation. :

kind regards,

Shaun.

Thank you Shaun for the links some very useful information.

A couple of questions

Other than registering with the HMRC and the insurance do I need to be registered with the AAT dont really have the cash for the full membership at the moment.

Also I have just taken over the accounts for a local craft group which is unpaid. As this is a club and societies account I am finding with the old accounts that they have been signed off but dont add up and some paper working missing what should I do. As I am rusty thank you made me laugh what I will need for this type of accounts for this year really want to do this well.I have made some changes already they never had a money box just an ice cream tub with out the ice cream lol shame as I could have had that.

1. With the subs of 12 people do I need to give them a receipt for paying which is every five weeks and in the summer every week.
2. They also have classes which people come and show new skills but they are paying them cash for coming with no receipts, I really want to give them a receipts of this money as this is coming out of the account or should this be out of petty cash even though there is no petty cash set.

sorry to be a pain I hope you and bring out my rusty skills
