Morning all peeps!

How's your week been? What are your plans for the weekend?

I've just posted my weekly blog and am settling down to catch up my own blog reading list and forum posts. But of course how can one be on this tantalising forum of fact and debate without joining in and saying hi?

(Some might call it avoiding the hoovering, but I insist its research)

 

Off to boil the kettle again - want a cupper? :)

Personally I'm full of a cold and stupidly decided to attack costs and revenues, not a good mix, although i have to admit it does appear to be sinking in, I shall be a management accountant by the end of the day at this rate.

For the record Tesco with two kids and kids parties are both on the same level of hell in my book. I'd probably sit on the fence as to which one i'd prefer. smile

Apparently the smashing orangey bits are made from condensed and pressurised sun rays, this makes the Jaffa cakes mined from below the deep valleys of Wales more highly sought after and are worth a whole lot more than their Outer Hebredian cousins as these smashing orangey bits are reported to be the choice of the gods.

 

Taken from JaffaWiki and we all know anything reported on there is true.

Also, have you downloaded the ME3 Demo yet? We downloaded it last night and he's played it four times so far today before he started playing the multiplayer option.

 I'll take a look at the link.

I haven't downloaded the demo no, it's not something I  do really, I prefer to buy the game and it all be new to me. Need to get through costs and revenues before then though or I'll never do it smile

Would love a cuppa :D

I had a really busy week. Had to finish off some VAT returns for the Accountants I do work for and hand those back. Coupled with my youngest getting a sickness bug and passing it all around - I'm still recovering but the kids seem fine. I have to take my middle boy to a party at a soft play centre - I'm just going to sit and drink tea for two hours. My husband is going to take the other two to Tesco to get a few bits so I think I've definitely got the better deal lol.

Foisting the weekly shop onto hubby?! Marvellous idea!

A two hour tea-break in a room with sugar-filled, bouncing off the walls (literally) children (how do they manage to scream at such a high pitch??) - I'll take your word for it! :D

(I used to work at somewhere similar MANY years ago, and I never quite got over it! lol)

Costs and Revenues gives you a taster of what to expect at level 4 Steve. I quite enjoyed it as it seems like you are doing some proper accountancy work.

How many fences can one man sit on? lol

Today i will mostly be practicing Statement of Cashflows and Consolidated Accounts as well as drinking copious amounts of caffeine and eating enough chocolate to fill a country the size of England.

After this i will mostly be re-writing 673 accounting standards, in laymans terms, drinking copious amounts of caffeine and eating enough chocolate to fill a country the size of England.

 It is the sort of thing I prefer to be honest.

Two fences as I have two buttocks, as long as they aren't too far apart.

673! lol. Does seem that way sometimes though espechially when you throw the Audit and ethics one's into the melting pot.

Deloitte do some nice short reviews of each standard in www.iasplus.com

Thanks Shaun,

I have the Deloitte link saved in favourites from a previous post of yours. Far better for study purpose than anything i have in any of my books but i do have a tendency to float off course somewhat when reading a certain standard. The interpretations seem to be my downfall, i can be reading study related standards and then find myself enjoying the accounting policies for surface mining for Jaffa Cakes in the Outer Hebrides and the use of Ninja related labour and costings.

I think that Jaffa Cake mining of the outer hebrides is proving to be a real ecological disaster that greenpeace is just doing nothing about.

Also deep mined Jaffa cakes from the Jaffa fields of South Wales are much better quality than those more easily extracted from the surface elsewhere but of course are more expensive to extract so unscruplious companies are invariably taking the cheaper option espechially in these difficult times.

Think that we need someone like Bob Geldoff on board to really drive home the issues related to opencast Jaffa cake mining

Anyway, just do your bit. Next time your in Tesco's just spend that bit extra on deep mined Welsh Jaffa's and you'll feel all the better for it.

... You can always tell when I really should be doing something else can't you!

(thinks, half moon, crescent moon, full eclipse.... or in my case just stright to full eclipse!).

Nooooo, the chocolate needs to be taken from the edge of the sponge, then lick the chocolate of the jaffa bit, peel off the jaffa bit and munch nom nom, eat sponge. You're all amateurs who have obviously never studied the finer art of jaffa scranning.

In my house it's either eat then quickly or they're gone.

Rather than savouring every crumb I think that I need to be working on a faster delivery system... And it's no good trying to hide them as there is a definite link between children with jaffa cakes and pigs with truffles.

i actually had a reply, something along the lines of there being a definite link between children and pigs but maybe it's just my bunch.

(maybe i'm being a wee bit harsh, as this statement only rings true as they reached teenagerism)

There is a group i joined to help get me through it Shaun.

(Me) Hi, my name is Neil and i have 3 teenagers.

(Group:Sharp intake of breath) Hi Neil.

(Group leader) Would you care to tell us more about your problem Neil?

(Me) Well as i said, i have 3 teenagers. It first started in 2003, then again in 2006 and again in 2008. I am taking it one day at a time and hopefully with your help and support i will start to see some kind of future without teenagers.

Of course it helped knowing that some of the group were worse off than me, reporting upto 5 teenagers at any given time.

Thankfully Mass Effect three comes out four days after my boys 13th so I may get another months repreave whilst he's lost in deep space saving the universe from a reaper invasion.

He's at that age at the moment where girls have discovered him but he still doesn't seem to have a clue what to do with them... Long may it remain that way.

There was once a girl, used to smile at me and whisper to her friends. Her friends used to utter non-understandable girl things in my direction as i passed. I used to go bright red whenever i passed this girl for some reason, it was highly annoying, and she would sit on a wall that i had to pass to get to my best friends house.

She wore me down in the end and i married her.

Oh, by the way, while we are back on to gaming i meant to ask you both the other day, do either of you read CTRL+ALT+DEL? (CAD Comic) If not, check it out it's pretty cool and often very funny whilst keeping up with the latest games and either pulling the weaker points or bigging them up.

(The archives for the comic are easy enough to find off the website)

Been looking at ALAN WAKE all week for pc, £22 on Steam at the moment. This was reported to have been a bench test for high end machines, then they pulled it from PC release. £22 just to see if the grahics are pretty can not be justified at the moment, ahhhh i miss the good old days lol.

 Yeah that will explain people complaining about capacitor noise (whatever that may be) and their GPU fans cranking up to full power when playing it. It doesn't sound like something I could run on my aging setup. cry

Hi Neil,

the cartoons are quite hit and miss but I do notice that they seem to have posters for most of my DVD collection on their walls! lol

And continueing last weeks Mac discussion :

Coincidentally on Big Bang last night Sheldon was trying to find the most mind numbingly dumb job where he didn't have to use any of his old grey matter in his work. The options that he came down to were :

  • A toll booth attendant
  • An Apple Store Genious
  • What Penny does

What Penny does only won out because Sheldon refused to contribute towards the devaluation of the word genious. lol
