Another suggestion.

I think it would be a useful resource if the blog was extended to focus on a different bookkeeping issue each time e.g. one could focus on accruals and prepayments, another forex.

I think students new to bookkeeping would benefit if the articles started at the very beginning. When I first started learning bookkeeping I learnt the methodology but not the underpinning logic and it wasn't until I picked up the latter that I felt as though I really understood bookkeeping.

Thanks for your suggestion much appreciated - keep them coming!

We will be rolling out user guides for as many Book-keeping topics that we can come up with as the year progresses! These guides will be stored in www.book-keepers.net (Technical Resources Area).

We are currently building the Technical Resources Area of the website and as you will all appreciate it is a mammoth task, therfore we will be releasing each area periodically.

Once we have finalised each section we will let you know via the BKN Weekly Bulletin, Twitter [ @book_keepers ] and on the Forum.

If anybody has any further suggestions please let us know!

Kind regards,

Ross Brinsdon (Technical Director)

Hi Ross,

could I add another suggestion then please as your looking at a technical resources area.

a library of sample forms.

We had a case yesterday of Amanda looking for the MLR Risk Assessment form. As it is this is available in the AAT guidance for anyone to grab a copy of but I was thinking that it might be helpful if we had somewhere on the site where existing forms, letters, pro-forma's etc. are accessible by everyone here.

Just a thought. What would the site views be on this?

Also, will the technical resources area be accessible by everyone on the site or will this be a BKN members only area?

kind regards,

Shaun.

Shaun, you read my mind - mind you telepathy is one of our skill sets, or at least it is with some of my clients!

Dear All,

Thanks for your input and ideas.

Whilst planning the relaunch of the Book-keepers Network we decided that the Technical Resources area would be free to all in regards to user guides and available forms.

We will adding a template area for forms, excel sheets etc. in the next few weeks, we will of course keep you all posted.

Shamus - that's a good example with Amanda's MLR form query, thanks.

As usual any suggestions are welcomed.

Kind regards,

Ross Brinsdon (Technical Director)

I was thinking of making a similar suggestion with letters of engagement etc - but these have already been suggested on this forum in the past and they did say before they were going to implement them at some stage.

Am I then only person that's thinking "what's in it for them?"

I could fully understand if they made an area like that for BKN members only - I wouldn't want them to, but then again I may be considering joining anyway.

Any time I see a forum posting either advertising or requesting a copy of the Bookcert pack I wonder why the forum owners don't remove such posts.

Hi Peasie,

I'm about ready to sign up for BKN.

Just do the maths. PII through Zurich Life for non BKN members £132.50 (which to me doesn't sound that unreasonable if you don't have access to the Trafagar PII via a practice certificate).

Then the quote for the same cover for BKN members £78. BKN membership £24. Well, that's £30.50 staying in my pocket thankyou very much. biggrin

A library of forms would just be icing on the cake.
