I am new to the forum, I have just passed my ICB Level 11 Manual & Computerised exams, and I am now studying for the ICB Level 111 Manual & Computerised. I recently purchased from the ICB 'Kaplan Advanced Bookkeeping' book, I have started reading through the book but it looks very daunting, I am studying these courses with Ideal Schools. As anyone any tips should I forget the Kaplan book and concentrate on the Ideal Schools manual?
I haven't used the Kaplan book but I did find it helpful to have an alternative source of information while I did the same same courses with Ideal Schools.
The text from Ideal is very good but I found it helped me understand it better if I also refered to another text book, which may describe things slightly differently. My book of choice was Frank Woods/ Sheila Robinsons Book Keeping and Accounting
The couse work from Ideal should see you through OK. All I can say is, take it one step at time, it's less daunting than thumbing through a text book.
Thanks very much for your advice. Have you passed Level 111, if so how long did it take you to complete the Ideal Schools course, did you take the paper manual exam or the new compterised exam at the test centre? You mention Frank Wood & Sheila Robinson Book-keeping and Accounts, is your book the Sixth Edition?
I also used Frank Woods book while doing Level 3 - not to actually study from but just to refer to if I had trouble with anything. But remember the exam is tailored to what you learn from the manual so it should be your main source of information.
Hi remington I'm preparing for the exam now by doing past papers etc. The level 3 course (manual) has taken me about a month of almost full time study to complete. I'm hopeful for the result as I managed 96% Level 1 and 100% Level 2 Clare
I did all three levels manual and computerised, plus payroll. I did the manual exam and it took me about 18 months to complete all the assigments and exams (mainly due to the time it takes to get assignments marked and booking the manual exams).
It is the sixth edition but I believe there is now a seventh but six will still be OK
