Companies House submissions URGENT

Hi,

Trying to file online accounts finalised at the eleventh hour by a major accounting firm (long story)......

These are abbreviated small company accounts.  The checks have all been validated but I have a final submission error of [xdp2xml]      if anyone has ever experienced this and in the remote chance you can help with two hours to spare......

Hi,

Are they by any chance updating their system??

The only reason I say this is I tried to do a VAT on line the other day and got an error message right at the end and it said system unavailabe, so I rang HMRC and they said they were updating their system and was out of use for the rest of the day, and he suggested that I tried the following day. I did it the following day and it was fine.

Only just a thought, maybe someone else on here can help.

regards,
A

Well kept trying.   Everything froms switching browsers to downloading Adobe updates....no   Still nothing.  All pre-submission checks said everything balanced and was complete.

Came across this in the meantime on the Companies House website...

Documents received electronically outside the hours of 0730 to 1830 Monday
to Friday will not be processed by Companies House until the next working
day.

And I didn't get the info from the Accountants til after 7.30pm tonight!  Me thinks any Companies House fee (sent a mail to Companies House in advance of an appeal anyway)  will be deducted from the Accountant's mammoth bill.....

Thanks for your responses anyway!!

Tip for the future.
If you can get through to HMRC on the telephone ask for a reference for the conversation as they are all recorded. You can use this as your evidence

but are we not talking about the Companies House submission not HMRC submission. I doubt Companies House care about a conversation with HMRC.

These days, an excuse that the system is down etc and cannot submit falls on deaf ears especially if its at the last minute, as they can argue that you've had plenty of time AND they have given warnings on their site in advance of any works preventing submissions.

Too many people leave it til the last minute and get caught out. I used to be like that but these days, its getting harder and harder and the penalties easier and easier to hand out!

I agree Phil,

We are living in a regime where collecting penalties seems preferable to collecting the correct tax, easier to police I guess. Penalties now for late payment of paye, penalties doubling up for companies filing late two years in a row, deadlines shortening etc!

also having to pay VAT by BACS etc, I know people who refuse to pay by BACS, DD etc and still send a cheque to Southend, evne though they have to submit online as they do not have online banking and do not wish to go all the way to the bank just to send the money!!

Hi-  sorry been away from this site for awhile but thought I would update you on what happened.

I e-mailed Companies House at the time explaining the issue I was having.  They replied,  the next day where I actually got a very helpful person at Companies House who asked me to send through the submission I had tried.

She confirmed it was correct and apparently (heres the useful bit) their computer system does not record the timing of any failed attempts to file online (I was trying right up to midnight!!) so after speaking to her line manager they were happy to accept the filings with the date of the deadline.

Phew!  Don't you just love it when you find a human and not a 'computer says no' person????
