Hello from Sheffield

Hi, my name is Terri and I am 27 years old.  Until having my two children (aged 2 and a half and 11 weeks old) I worked for a large insurance company for just over 5 years.  I looked after major accounts and it was a very high pressure, high stress job but I loved it.  I am now a SAHM and am slowly losing my mind lol.  I have been studying Manual Book Keeping from home and plan to take (and hopefully pass) my exams next year.  Upon passing, I plan to work as a self employed book keeper from home, starting with a couple of hours a day and working eventually up to full time as my children get older and start school.  Hoping to meet some friendly people here who can give me their wisdom, a few good tips and point me in the right direction from time to time.  Looking forward to talking to you all and who knows, maybe I may even be able to help from time to time.  I have a million questions to ask, so you might see me around a bit.

Hi Terri,

Welcome to the forum. I have certainly found it a very friendly, helpful and informative place to visit, which I do as often as I can.  I hope you do so too and good luck with your plans.  I'm sure you'll pick up some pearls of wisdom here!

Regards,
Tim

Hi Terri

Welcome to the Forum!

I found the site about three or so weeks ago, and within a week I had had two questions answered - and everyone is really friendly and helpful.

One of the queries I have been following was about whether I should study and gain qualifications - I have otherwise learned 'on the job'. Very interested that you are studying the ICB - that's the one that I have decided to go for, and will be sending off for it soon.

I decided to study mainly to give me confidence, especially when I seek new accounts, but also to keep my mind active. Julie had sent a really nice message to me, but it was when she said she had studied it to challenge herself, that made me decide to do it too.

Lots of luck for the future.

Babs

Thank you for the welcome Tim.

Babs, good luck with your studying, I am really enjoying my studies at the moment although I struggle at times to get my head around things but I seem to get there in the end. Unlike you I have no on the job experience so I am sure that you will pass your exams much easier and quicker than I will. Thank you for the warm welcome, Julie has already answered one of my questions too, lovely and helpful isn't she?
