Kaplan Practical Bookkeeping & other study resources?

Hi all! Some of you might have seen my previous post regarding SkillsTrain, well I've just decided to do ICB level 1 by myself for the time being - I'll see how that goes & then either carry on with the other levels by myself or apply at one of the colleges recced on ICB. :)

In a further effort to cut costs I tracked down the Kaplan Practical Bookkeeping book on ebay for an amazing £11. Having received it I now understand why it was so cheap; it appears to be half the size of the book recommended on the ICB website.

I'm stumped as to why this is - it looks the same and has the same name...but it only has 250 pages.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has this book, and if so does it have everything needed for level 1? I was a bit confused on the ICB website - given they only list one book for self-tutoring, does it cover all the levels, or does it mean that it's only possible to do level 1 by self-tutoring?

Also, thought I'd just ask if anyone has any suggestions for further study books? Either for level 1 or the other levels available?

I'm not sure what book it is that you've purchased but you can pick up the book recommended om the ICB website for £22. Go to Blackwells and if they haven't got it, ask them to order it in for you. It covers the Level I and Level II syllabus for the manual bookkeeping exams.

Amazon are selling the same ICB (Kaplan) practical bookkeeping book which covers levels 1 & 2 manual for £21.99 new or £17.46 used !

Thanks for the responses guys - think I'll see if I can find out how much the book I've got covers. I'll probably be doing the Level II & III through a college or something so I presume they'll be able to provide me with further study materials. :)
