Press Release

I've set up a little book keeping business and would like to do a press release to let local small business's know about my service. Has anyone here done a press release before and does anyone have any tips on the best way to go about doing it?

Thx

Debbie

If you can Debbie, try and find out the name of the specific individual at the paper who is responsible for local business news and send it direct to them. Also try and make the story unique which hopefully the public will find interesting. Theres more chance of it being published if it is.

My experience is that you always have to chase up your letter with a phone call. This normally does the trick to speed up it being published. Also it's really important to get across what differentiates your business from others. It could be that you only do the books for food type businesses i.e. local cafes and restaurants. Really sell your USP in the release.

Best of luck with it. Let us know how it goes.
