Company year end date

A new client has joined my bookkeeping business. He's employed full-time but does some graphic design work on the side. He set up a limited company to put the part-time income through. When I asked what date his year end was so I could set him up on Sage, he didn't know what it was? He hasn't instructed an accountant yet so I'm a bit stuck as how to proceed with his bookkeeping?

Can anyone tell me how I can find this information out? I'm a bit new to doing bookkeeping for limited companies so I don't know where to turn?

Thanks.

Diane

Go to www.companieshouse.gov.uk and click on web check. You can then search for details on your clients company. Just enter the company name in the search box, and then select the company from the next list (it should be highlighted in yellow). This will bring up the clients details and you need to look at the accounting reference date. For example if it is 31/05 this means the companies year end date is the 31st May.

Hope this helps you.

Have just been on the companies house website and discovered that the year end date was the the 31st March 07, and also that the accounts are due for filing in January 07! Better get my client sorted ASAP!!

Thanks for info Jim.

Cheers,

Diane
