Auto-Enrolment

Hi I currently use Payroll Manager and wondered if any of you are using it for Auto-Enrolment?  My first staging date does not start until next year but I want to make sure that I have software than can cope with it and is easy to use!  I have found Payroll Manager one of the easiest payroll softwares to use so hoping it can do the job! Your input would be gratefully appreciated :)

In all fairness (and I'm no longer in that industry so this is unbiased) AE software is *massively* complex. The rules are completely insane. So AE represents a huge development and testing burden for payroll software suppliers coming straight after they've just finished dealing with RTI (though AE is around an order of magnitude worse for payroll software developers than RTI was). It isn't unreasonable for software suppliers to pass that cost in either in the form of increased payroll charges, or as a separate chargeable module for AE handling. Just as accountants and bureaus ought to consider charging clients for all the extra work involved in AE.

If the government want employers to action this then they should provide free software to process it -it's already going to cost employers considerably without them having to shell out for software on top of this
I am not criticising the software companies more the government for not giving (particularly small businesses ) more support

I don't suppose the above will go anywhere near far enough.

might be worth looking into though to see if it will suffice for the micro business- I am thinking of purchasing the software and splitting the cost between all my payroll clients to help them but to be honest if there are free tools available I would prefer that option to begin with

Good Evening Jo

Payroll Manager have a very strict boundary on how far they are going to support AE and this is it :-

http://www.moneysoft.co.uk/payroll-software/payroll-manager-pensions-auto-enrolment.htm

So check that it meets your customers requirements and you are OK to run with it !!!

There are more AE friendly solutions based on what you wish to offer for AE and what your customers will require/need/demand. Have a look at 12pay (they have an AE module at £121) and Brightpay have a very good offering but don't support CIS.

I met with a company providing AE software the other week but when he gave the price, £970+VAT per company, he was quickly shown the door.

I expect there will something available for small employers, less than 10 employees, when their AE deadline comes round cause I cant see any of my clients paying more than £1k per year to conform with another government requirement.

Mark I had a similar meeting! but then I spoke with Sage and asked how much they would be charging for the add on and they said £300 per year for 10 companies which I thought was quite reasonable, a lot of my payrolls are director only ones so I think to start with the 10 company would be sufficient for me

I read somewhere the other day that auto enrolement for micro companies maybe postponed or better still they wouldn't have to enrol employees at all. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

I've just taken a quick look at 12pay and may have to migrate to them if Moneysoft aren't offering an all round module to help with this headache!

Can't see his they can give exemption to micro companies, at the end of the day all eligible employees should be given the option to join -just because they work for a small company shouldn't mean they lose that right

I understand the unfairness on micro employers but you have to look at it from the employee side too
